Canbus hardware.

Post by Dschantz »

This is maybe a stupid question. But is there any reason you use 3.3v can bus transceiver. Do the gpio only support 3.3v ? Or can i use a mcp2552 transciver ?

Sorry i am new to this electronic stuff, just trying to learn.

Thanks

STM32 is a 3V device which is 5V tolerant. It can only generate 3V pulses, and will not catch fire if you provide 5V to a generic GPIO pin. Keep in mind some pins are not 5V tolerant, but many are. So you have to keep a close eye on what you are doing.
