Some progress on the 60 pin break out. See below.
https://github.com/rusefi/rusefi/tree/master/hardware/Breakout_60pin_EEC-IV-Connector

This needs some validation. Can anyone print this or some how validate it against the real world before spinning a PCB? How many amps does each pin need? I was able to get 17 mil wide traces to fit between the header pins. Much wider traces could happen closer to the connector.

This is from a Rotunda EEC-IV monitor adapter I got off ebay a couple of years back. Just eyeballing the traces I'd say they are about 20mil (except the wider ones).
Ignore the burnt trace - that was me shorting it out.

If anyone needs connectors, I don't need these anymore as I no longer have a vehicle with an EECIV. You could salvage 2 ECU connectors and a harness connector. Not sure what I did with the other harness connector.

What is this red piece - doubt it has same 60 on both ends?

I am interested because I am a hoarder and I might pass parts of this stuff to John and Drew with their Mustangs.

I haven't cut it apart but I believe it is the same.
These are cables that plug into a breakout box. one goes from the harness to the box, and the other goes from the box to the ECU. It is for testing sensors etc. while the engine is running.
Here's one on ebay. The cables are different but it's basically the same.

Breakout board updated. It's over sized right now, as I'm fairly sure the long term goal is to put MRE or similar into the OEM enclosure. So this breakout includes the mounting holes and is a full sized PCB that would fit inside an OEM enclosure.

The traces are much fatter than they were.

Is there any silk screen that we want on it?

Perhaps we can get Andrey to update the first post to include the below link

Let's separate theoretical future adapter from the breakout board. a breakout board has value in itself - it's an eBay item with rusEFI logo on it. Can we move PCB outline into separate files for now?

Can we shrink the breakout board vertically? Less vertical spacing hopefully would be a simple tracing change?

And we need at least 1-5-10-15-20....-60 silkscreen on both sides for wires and on back side for connector. And gerbers to fab :)

Say 1/3 the vertical, would that be good? AKA keep the 2 mounting screws, and keep the connector that is there, but also keep the costs low.

What's the goal of mixing breakout and OEM case? is that to validate top side of OEM case for future adapter?

I figured width was cheap, and it allows us to validate the placement of the connector in the case.

60 pin breakout order placed.

Having done some more thinking, I am reversing my position on Proteus not being a good fit for using with adapter boards, as long as there is room in the housing for two boards stacked. The adapter PCB would need to be larger, increasing cost, but that might be worth it.

It also aligns with the OEM case.

Have a customer asking if pinout is inverted https://github.com/rusefi/rusefi/issues/1744

Can anyone with interest in 60 pin Ford validate pinout/provide some data?

Pictures? AKA did they install the connector upside down?

Pictures? AKA did they install the connector upside down? Why do they think it is inverted? Does the connector have a number stamped on it somewhere?

The connector does have pins 1, 20, 41 and 60 identified. The numbers are stamped in the plastic very near the open side of the connection where the harness plugs in.

Picture or suggestion of changes? It is likely that the silk screen does not know about the connector numbers. It's hard to see with a blindfold on. I may have this connector around here some where.

I have an official Ford adapter board see pictures

it looks like plastic numbers do not match Ford parts. It looks like the custom request matches the green PCB numbers of the official extension while NOT matching plastic molding.

there is no way to insert the connector the wrong way it's not symmetrical I believe

Images are at https://github.com/rusefi/rusefi/issues/1744

The pin numbers are reversed, so 1 is 60 etc., but Andrey is correct, you can't invert the connector, I made my own library with the correct pin numbers if anyone is interested.

Edit: here's a picture showing wrong board

David has just flipped the footprint and pushed new pcb and gerbers into official repo.
