I think an issue with these is that both sides are wire-mounted, like a cable - but none of them is pcb-mounted? Unless I am wrong :)

Also beware the hidden costs. Price it as a complete connector to make sure you have it all. The PCB side typically comes with pins, however the harness side often needs crimp pins as well as the shell. I've seen a variety of prices structures, some where the PCB connector is way cheap, as well the harness shell, but then each crimp pin was $.25 ea. Then I've seen others were the harness connector was way cheap, then the PCB connector was expensive. I seem to recall that as a general rule if you are selecting a connector from scratch on a new design, you should expect under $.25 cost per pin for both shells and all pins required. So a 50 pin connector total cost with all the pins should be under $12.50. If you are using an OEM harness you may be up a creak as parts can get expensive on existing connectors. Also if you remove the need to be water tight, you can get that down to $.10 per pin.

Hi folks. New guy here. I'll do an intro thread soon. At the moment, I'm just trying to get all the parts on the way to implement Frankenso in my 1990 Miata NA with manual transmission. I see a link for a 4,000 part 1206 sized kit (Resistors and Caps). My understanding (very weak at the moment) is that 0805 sized components are best for this application. Can someone please give me a link to the current known best deal variety pack for this application? Any help with that is much appreciated.

In case of your Frankenso board yes it has to be 0805 size. http://www.ebay.com/itm/2300pcs-SMD-0805-0-10M-50value-Resistor-2-2pf-1uf-40value-Capacitor-Kit-Set-/110941312626 ?

The 1st post in the Frankeso thread also has a link to the full Bill Of Material if you want to check if you want to get all the 0805 pieces from Digikey. To be honest I am curious to see what would be digikey total for all the 0805 resistors and 0805 capacitors needed for that board.

Thank you russian. Much appreciated. Even though it's coming from china, I ordered from the first link since it includes caps. More for back parts. I may already have the resistors and caps as I have some new and also a bunch of old computer, video, etc boards that I keep just for the parts.

Once I getting stuff going, I'll take photos and start a build thread. It's much easier for me to dig into a project once I already have hardware in hand to work on.

I've already freed my ECU once to mod the rev limiter out of it. It was rusted into the passenger floor board. Was a PITA to get out, but it's actually in a good location for working on.

thanks for all your help so far :)
