Alternative To BMW DI module, Duramax FICM

Post by nmstec »

It appears as though 2001-2004 6.6 LB7 Duramax used in silverados 2500HD & more, is basically the same, however with the addition of having 8 Cylinder control.

GM Part # 97720663
Bosch Part # 0281010014

Online they are ridiculous, but at my local junkyard im quoted $60 CAD. This may be a better option for me when working on DI stuff.

Who knows if this diesel FICM would still operate well enough with petrol DI?

Diesel DI is usually higher voltage right? I would be concerned that diesel injector peak/hold currents could be further away than BMW GDI settings.

Good chance this is the case - these may very possibly vaporize a GDI injector.

No CanBus needed for this. But also easy, CANbus is my thing. CAN is only used for diagnostics as far as I recall, and itself takes no data in.
