PDM info dump

Post by AndreyB »

Everyone loves a good distraction right?

Radlok RL00571-25 https://www.amphenol-industrial.de/en/RL00571-25/5-7mm-Radlok-plug-25mm-orange/p10796 is an alternative to good old 6mm stud

VN7003ALH sounds cool fun fact: today dev board costs $4 while single chip costs $5. A modern replacement for legacy AUIR3313S?

https://digitalcommons.calpoly.edu/eesp/387/ would be a source of inspiration

Need help: looking for off-the-shelf hardware for positive terminal. We want a flange touching PCB and we want an eyelet outside of the case.

TDG went with everything custom including 11 head m6 internal low profile nut I would prefer to go with simpler stuff.

Let's KISS and prototype with a brass bolt
A simple screw is actually less simple - a screw through a PCB will creep he fiberglass, making the board thinner, progressively making the connection worse.

The VN700x are decent parts. I am using them as a replacement for the marked-for-obsolescence VN5E010AH. I have a couple thousand of them right now because.... I could buy them. Supply is *extremely* limited.

The Weurth terminals are also awesome. They're very well designed. I think I am using a M5 one? Availability is kind of icky sometimes. TME seem to do a very good job of stocking them, if you don't mind shipping from Europe.

Another source of high-current lug stuff is lugsdirect.com
They have a lot of bizarre and interesting parts.

I've tried some of their "SMD" parts (i.e. https://lugsdirect.com/B2C-PCB-SS-Surface-mount-tech-2-14AWG-115A-PCB-terminal.htm ) and have found them to be too easy to break off PCBs in the course of securing wires.

The slotted/TH parts (i.e. https://lugsdirect.com/B6A-PCB.htm ) are very good quality. Great value.

Note: these are *hard* to solder with just a regular soldering iron. Even with a 100W professional iron, you need to do some pre-heating. The parts just soak up too much heat. Wave solder with a little pre-heat? Butter. Excellent coating.

Also older MC33984/MC33988 - dual channel direct or SPI control. AliExpress has them at fairly decent price.

Would a latest and greatest VN9008AJTR be cool on a PDM? Pretty available right now.
