Subaru EZ30 Cam hall sensor strange behavior

Post by WOOL »

Hi all. Today while trying to get camshaft timing I found a very strange behavior of the camshaft sensor.
The fact is that at idle, the signal form from the sensor is formed from a falling form, and after an increase in engine speed, the signal form changes (is inverted) and changes to a signal rise. Can anyone come across this and how Rusefi will look for VVTi synchronization in this case?

This sensor is from Mitsubishi, its part number is J005T23781 Subaru part number is 22056AA101
Here is the waveform from the manual, the wiring diagram and pinout

We only trust one of cam fronts because of this exact thing known as "lazy hall"

As long as you trust the reliable front you are good.
Very limited telepathic abilities - please post logs & tunes where appropriate - http://rusefi.com/s/questions

It is the newer EZ30 with VVTi? How does it run on RusEFI in general? I heard that it have some isue with VVTi on other ECUs. Does it control both banks with one output and one cam input? Or does it have separate controls for both banks with two cam inputs and two outputs?

Hello, we had problems with vvti but Andrey defeated them all, thank him very much. Now the car has already driven more than 20k km, there are no problems with VVTI, the only problem is the camshaft sensor. The sensors have strange behavior which is called lazy hall on the forum. The sensor inverts the signal after 1750 rpm. I had to find other sensors from Mitsubishi 4g63, the fact is that the sensors for this Subaru engine are supplied by Mitsubishi and I found one that was suitable in size and design. Now there are no problems, the settings are in rusefi online. Control via two wires to solenoids and feedback via two camshaft sensors. And yes, this is the second version of the ez30 engine with a plastic intake manifold and vvti couplings on the intake. If you need help, you can contact me, my engine makes me happy and closer to summer I am going to install a gt35 turbine.
