As a plan B for low side control we can try a TLE6240GP

PC15: channel #2
PC13: channel #1

The on resistance of around 2 ohms seems kind of blah, when we know protected MOSFET's are in the mOHM range. It's max power dissipation is 3.3watts. If you try to run 1A through those lower 8 channels, the resistance heating is going to exceed the chips ability to remove the heat. So avoid the lower 8 channels, or use them for things like LED's. Note on page 33 of the above linked datasheet, it notes that for injector drivers you should use TLE8104 while it shows this chip as driving generic solenoids and generic devices. I see this chip as useful as a generic drive, not an injector drive.

Availability of the 8104 seems a bit blah http://octopart.com/partsearch#!?q=TLE8104&start=0&limit=10 this chip has a much better on resistance at .3ohms. Neither chip is very good for driving ignition, unless you use an external ignitor.

I really like the on-board diagnostic stuff. The current measurements, and temper feed back is really good stuff.

I believe I was told VAZ uses TLE6240GP as an injection driver (OUT9-12 are used for injectors in Janvar 7.2 http://almisoft.ru/files/janvar72sh.rar)

And @kt819a got us a first version

Kind of just for a record: today mouser has 134 of these in stock with a scary "Manufacturing delays have been reported on this product" comment. Let's see how it would be in 6 months from now.

I've ordered the @kt819a has created a while ago. The price is not that great for single orders, but once you want to order 10+ it's really gets tempting

Did you manage to second source this thru Asian market? Looked at Mouser and its backordered, waiting on 1000+ pieces, with no date specified.

I like the smart low side drivers in which you get open circuit, over current, over temperature… feedback. The specs are mostly on par with most offering from other manufacturers, although clamping energy in mJ is not specified.

Currently using/testing Freescale somewhat equivalent (half output density), would be nice to potentially consolidate a little more. So far heat dissipation is not an issue.

That's a screeshot from http://www.aliexpress.com/ - I've got two delivered. Did not yet get a chance to play with them :(

Only direct drive for now, will play with SPI one day.

Now I really want TLE6244 since that one is an even better deal :)

This driver can be used safely in RusEfi. I did not observe any failure of these chips. I had several projects where low-resistance injectors were put and the machine worked, even without ballast resistors in the injector supply circuit. In addition, this is a common microcircuit and it is not at all expensive, in Ukraine it turns out even cheaper to use this driver instead of 4 transistors 4427
