Hmmm, that has been like that for all of R0.4 and perhaps earlier. Did your MFG cut this trace? So far we have not had a problem with this trace.

I have added this to the known_issues.txt such that it can be addressed on future spins.

I moved the right cut line with 0.25 mm. The manufacturer didn't want to make the board with spacing less than 0.25mm to the edge. Maybe it isn't a problem at all.

does it matter what amp the 68uh inductor need to be? I can only seem to find 750ma on ebay in 8x10?

Yes, the amp ratings matter. I suggest the one in the BOM. I once changed between a square one and circle one with the same amp ratings, and there were changes. However at the end of the day, it functioned. One consumed more watts which showed up as a hotter temperature in the inductor. However it worked, so it could have been used, but it would not have been as robust about higher ambient temperatures. I have found that even small changes to this inductor can result in significant differences. I would suggest you try to get it working with the parts of the BOM best you can, then start making changes. Such that you have a better base line for what is normal, then you can see if you can make it better some how. AKA lower cost or better availability of parts is certainly better and an item we are interested in. However I suggest you get a good starting point, then try to make it better.

The bom brings up a axial one on digikey is that correct? That's the last part I need to place my order

I would say the BOM is the best option, I'm not sure about the wiki. I haven't reviewed the wiki. There is a good chance the one on the wiki is OK, but might make a bit more heat. At the end of they day, we are not running the full current, so the extra heat may be minimal.

Power supply on 0.5 works!

These loose single-side fuse clips could be a challenge for our Chinese friends. Too bad KS 3557-2 with plastic case for the clips is the wrong size :(

I recall it was a pain to find cost effective, mini fuse holders. It seems the universal ones were more readily available and lower cost. The KeyStone 3557 costs about $0.40 while the single self contained fuse holders are typically $1.00 and above. To me this seems like crazy pricing, when I compare it to other components we get for under $1.

usability question: D12-D23 symbol is asking for a Schottky while I am using a (standard?) 1n4007. Can we clarify that schottky is not a requirment right on the schematics?

I am currently setting up a frankenso 0.4 board for a '99 Miata. For this car the idle valve is connected to 3M/W51. This is not a low-side driver as needed, so I patched it to W35/Low04.
The problem with that is that there is no provision for a flyback diode on the board for W51.
This could be helped by having the flyback connect at the driver side and not the connector side of the jumper in future revisions.

How un-practical is it to move the harness connector socket? This connector allows the pin sockets to be moved to different position in the shell fairly easily. Do you have a need to maintain the OEM ECU pin out? It might be easier and cleaner if you move your wire connected to the W51 to your W35 location on the connector, then you would have the optional diode.

About 1N40XX diodes use, would depend on the application. We can change the note, removing schottky. However you may want schottky for it's beefed up strength. I understand they can typically handle more inrush current, as well TVS diodes have small capacitance which makes the reasonably fast for surge suppression issues, etc. Basically diodes have different physical properties, and you should match the diode to the application. I'm not sure how well a 1N400XX would work, it might work well, or it might fail after some time. As well a schottky might not react fast enough which might cause voltage spikes. So removing schottky from the description makes sense, but we should also keep in mind you should select a proper diode, or you may have issues.

Re-doing the harness would be quite impractical in this case- I need to be able to still use the stock ECU. I would have to make an adapter-harness for that purpose then. So for this particular board, I will solder in a "flying" diode as a workaround.

The intention for having the patch-area is to be able to patch to different connector configurations. This will, in some cases, sever the connection from diode to driver. Is there any reason to keep them as-is in future revisions?

Putting the diode connection on the other side of the W jumpers would be quite difficult on the top or bottom layers. The injector traces are quite fat and I have them on both top and bottom layers. A quick look shows that I can probably get the diode traces on the power layer. So at least in a quick looks I think it's possible. I think there is no reasons why the layout cannot be changed to have the diodes on the other sides of the W jumpers.

Injector drivers

I'm still working away from home so I can't check this. I'm looking through the frankenso v0.42 schematic again and I can see that the injector drivers are driven by signal named inj_xx_5V. It appears that the signal comes directly from the processor which is 3.3V is it not?

A quick look at the datasheet's seems to indicate you are correct. The Si2323DS is more available, it's not AEQ qualified, but seems to have specifications that are the same or better than the obsolete chip. I'll have to look at it closer perhaps around Monday or Tuesday. Right now I can't look at the schematic, but I'll be able to do that in a couple days.

Yipee! More power to you. Good to hear it was an easy fix. Sorry to hear the other messed up items. I guess that happens on the first build.

Also you should make one which is as you want it from the MFG, then take high resolution pictures both front and back. That can be really useful to them if they have any questions about what should and what should not be installed.

Just synched a bunch of files - I've compressed some files inside 3D folder (I know KiCad would not be happy - but I have compaints about repo size being too large)

What is the end goal - would we have nice .png files of the board like it's assembled? Or something else?

The primary end feature is that the 3D printing people will now have a 3D model they can use when designing there 3D printed enclosures and such. Well that and because it's cool to have a 3D model.
