I am building up a 74 VW bug and because I like to do everything the hard way, I decided to convert to fuel injection.
I am very new at this and I am still trying to figure out which ECU to buy. Is it possible to drive a modern instrument cluster with rusEFI? Seeing as it is a VW Bug, the absolute best prize would be if I could hook up a Porsche instrument cluster (using CAN bus).
It is pretty hard to find information on whether the CAN messages will be supported, what needs to be supported, how to reset or overrun the ODO and so on. There are unknowns for me on the ECU side and on the instrument cluster (hopefully Porsche) side, so I am pretty lost and your expertise will be appreciated very deeply.
Can anybody give me some pointers on where to focus my research or if this is even possible?
