VW BUG 1997 #23

Post by AldoQ »

HI
i want to ty rusefi
but i want to be sure my convination is suported
the bug is oem digifant fi
map sensor inside the ecu, hall sensor in the dist with 4 window hall is active low( open collector), 4 injectors hi imp batch injection, pwm IAC valve, IAT,TPS sensor, and a temperature sensor in the head

so the ecu can handle batch injection? , with map sensor? if so what type of sensors can handle ?, and single coil in the dist?
im try to decide if buy a frankenso or only the discovery board(i have a sapre ecu without procesor), so the frankenso is """"mature""""", or are plans to make a new board?
best regards

batch yes, map yes (we do not have map inside ECU - you would need a MAP sensor somewhere), single coil yes. for a relatively older engine, you should be fine as long as high-z injectors.

The biggest open question with frankenso 0.3 is what's the deal with knock sensor decoder. We are trying to resolve this and once (if) we do, there will be 0.4 board with knock sensor decoder fix, if we find, if the issue is hardware. This case me maybe will have the new version of the board in 2-4-6 weeks.

Batched injectors? Do you mean when you have one wire for multiple injectors? Frankenso can only drive 1 amp per channel. I would suggest highZ injectors with one injector per electrical channel.

Sensors yes, hall yes, MAP or MAF yes, single coil with distributor yes.

Window crank pickup is a yes, but will need development. This will require russian to know the window pattern. The window pattern can often be sniffed, but is handy to have a dimension-ed drawing.

Next spin is expected shortly, we are working out a bug in the Knock chip. That bug may be hardware related, so we are waiting until it has been fixed before the R0.4 spin.

A system schematic similar to this would help http://rusefi.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=360&p=7540&hilit=system+schematic#p7540

Hi
wow very fast response!!!!! I LIKE, very very much, rusefi have now a one more fan, i hope ths project grow much

yes one wire for 4 hi z injectors, i can fire 4 channels at once and conect to one wire???

any type of map sensor are ok=??? (absolute presure 30 psi boost is i want)

in the distribuitor have a hall sensor with 4 window with even space= 50% duty, one window, hall signal goes low = one spark and all injectors firing
i have 2 vw bug and in the other i want to try with 36-1 cranck triger ,

yes, but you would need to find out voltage decoding - i.e. you would need to know pressure for two voltage points.

If you have 4 injectors on one wire, you probably are drawing 4 amps of current. This would likely overheat the driver MOSFET. You would be better off connecting each injector directly to the rusEFI board. You can try the batched setup, but I expect it would get hot and would likely shut itself off due to thermal overheating.

I am sorry it took me forever to respond, this month is CRAZY for me.

Please check the http://rusefi.com/wiki/index.php?title=Manual:Software_Temperature_Sensors page and post a screen shot of your sensor calibration and diagnostics output - same pictures as on that page, just from your side :)

hi
problem solved
the problem was the resistors , i solder 1206 with dont fit properly vs 0805 , and another issue is the volt divider for 12 volts sensing, i simply add a multi turn trimer and do the trick ,
the bug starts now
one question , i use the hall sensor in the distributor which have 4 vanes evenly spaced , in the trigger config i will choose one tooth or what?? or i need a custom config for this setup
one more thing for ignition i have oem coil with integrated driver the coil needs 5ms dewell , but with Frankenstein the driver over heat with 5ms

Wait a second, you've totally lost me to be honest.

The bug starts using what ECU? 4 vanes evenly spaced on camshaft would be "custom 4/0" trigger wheel, this would work since the distributor would carry spark to the right cylinder.

Don't I recall you have a sensor on the flywheel, or cam or something like that? I seem to recall the disy was just for cyl one detection, and I think your disy has a bolt that allows you to make adjustments.

Hi
i have two vw bugs
the bug with rusefi come with oem fuel injection , but i want to modify a little, so i add 1.4 rockers and i want to test some intakes , right now have a itb form suzuki and i have a turbo waiting to be installed , i killed my ignition coil so im in the proces to install an msd ignition box

in the second bug i have a 1776cc engine vems ecu , waiting to install an engle tcs20 cam and turbo

and a dream, im in the process of collect buy parts for another engine, 1776cc fk89 112lbc holset vgt turbo

i wish rusefi can handle satged injection water injection digital dash and the holset turbo actuator, vgt have a steeper motor
so i need an ecu to play with all engines i have

Let's add support for all this, one step at a time. First step - a nice video of a rusefi bug!

Second step - tell me which new feature you want to start with.

Good news, rusEFI can physically handle all of that, especially for a 4 cyl. These features have not been developed yet as russian does not have hardware to work against. If you have hardware, russian can assist in getting these features developed.

Nice, and good to see. I was kind of expecting a front mounted engine for a 1997.

let's begin with this one since that's probably easier: can you use st link utility software http://www.st.com/content/st_com/en/products/embedded-software/development-tool-software/stsw-link004.html#getsoftware-scroll to flash new versions?

This is very little information, I do not understand what seems to be problem. I need a lot more information.

What version of firmware are you using? Can you please provide your CurrentTune.msq file?

What do you mean "dont work" - what exactly does not work? Does it show correct cranking RPM? Does it start?

i dont now what version is but is the last one, snapshot_20160707_2247

the rpm gauge dont move, and dont start
the problem is dont show the correct rpm, rpm are 4 times more rapid with one tooth config
