Hello from Irkutsk

Post by jekyll and hide »

Hello everyone, I apologize in advance for google translate. That year I became the owner of the wonderful 1998 yamaha vmax 1200 motorcycle, and I would like to transfer it to electronic injection, I have experience in designing electromechanical assemblies, soldering, wiring, and little programming experience in microcontrollers. I really liked the project rusefi, namely the Prometheus board https://rusefi.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=25004#p25004, but since I first started this project, I had a lot of questions.
Patient :D (engine) four stroke, v-four, 4 valve per cylinder, 1198cc 73.1 cu-in, liquid cooled, electronic ignition COP (original CDI), 4 carburetors.
The first question on the crankshaft position sensor, in the image it is at number 6.

as far as I understand, it works from the rotor magnets, should there also be a zero point? what kind of signal comes from it? Does the board handle such a signal? How to understand the number of pulses per shaft rotation?
How is the v-four configured, does the program just indicate 4 cylinders and v type? how does the ignition sequence of the cylinders adjust, because on different engines differently,

again a picture from the manual) D - working stroke, C-numbers of cylinders.
Does rusefi support this configuration ???
The plans to put the system consisting of 4 ignition coils, 4 injectors, MAP, IAT, CLT, TPS, Knok sensor, Oxygen sensor, Idle valve.
If we succeed in successfully launching the electronic injection, I will start the installation of the Supercharger 0.6 bar.
I apologize if I ask stupid questions :roll:

installed triger wheel... I can put it, it's just not an easy task, to make it is not a problem, there are CNC machines in the access, but there is a question of placement in the engine. The standard ignition unit operates on the crankshaft sensor and vacuum in the intake manifold, the latter has a not very clear mechanism.
А почему не январь?
As far as I understand, "January" works only with an in-line engine, the Honda RVF400 of 1994 was lifted on it, but I also had to install 2 ECU and two crankshaft position sensors. Simply put the engine divided by 2 :shock:
For this question, can rusefi work with v4???

The rusEFI crank decoder is very flexible, and can be made to decode many different types of crank / cam wheels. If a crank decoder does not already exist, generally it takes @ a couple days to create a new crank decoder. Can you sniff the pulses when running? Do you have detailed data about the existing crank wheel pattern? If a crank decoder is to be made, detailed information about the crank / cam pulses will be required.

V4 or L4 does not matter at all for engine control

You've mixed together too much information so I am not sure I follow the trigger and injection setup. Does it have a stock ECU? How does stock setup knows which cylinder to fire?

Before we go to trigger decoding logic there is the question of trigger electrical signals. Do we know if this is a VR variable reluctance sensor or not? Do we know sensor part number? Do we knot if there is a sensor?

What is the trigger wheel shape? Does it have skipped tooth or just 12 or 16 or 13 evenly placed tooth? Maybe some pictures are available?

I dug the information, the OEM number of the sensor was 3UF-81670-00-00 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pick-Up-Pulser-VMX1200-V-Max-1990-2007-XVZ1300-Venture-Yamaha-3UF-81670-00-00-/231495589284, as far as I understood the signal is given by the projections on the generator rotor.
Photo from the Internet, I can open my own a little later.
Фото из интернета, свой вскрыть смогу чуть позже.}

from the photo it is clear that there are ~ 8 short and one long ledge, as I understand it, the zero point, it seems to me that this resolution is not enough?
I can remove the waveform of the signal, but it will not be soon, is it necessary with such a small resolution? Or do you need to immediately think about installing a triger wheel?
{по фото понятно что есть ~8 коротких и один длинный выступ, я так понимаю нулевая точка, мне кажется что такой разрешающей способности не хватит.
Могу записать осциллограмму сигнала, но это будет не скоро, имеет ли смысл при такой маленькой разрешающей способности? или мне нужно сразу думать об установке реперного диска?}

2 wire sensors is likely VR, but with an older CDI, it could be something different.

I see no reason to swap it for a more detailed wheel. Has worked for OEM should work for us.

Cool, it makes the task much easier, I can write down the oscillogram a little later in order to understand in more detail what to work with.
Managing v4 is also not a problem).
There is another question, can the board work with 9000 revolutions?
{Круто, это сильно облегчает задачу, чуть позже смогу записать осциллограмму чтобы более подробнее понять с чем работать.
Управлением v4 тоже не проблема).
Есть ещё вопрос, сможет ли плата работать с 9000 оборотами?}
