Hello from Portugal

Post by RecaroRacer »

Hi guys!

I'm 27yo and I took a master degree in automotive engineering. Currently I work with high end motorsport ecus doing calibration (mainly Cosworth and Life Racing).

I was always curious about making pcb and I indeed had made some (both homemade and outsourced). I have some programming skills with high level languages (arduino IDE and MPLAB) but I would say it's medium to low level and rusty. My electrical skills are good enough to build small circuitry.

The reason I'm registering the forum is because I plan to install a microrusEFI on my brother's car. I have a spare megasquirt 1 V2.2 extra code which I assembled myself 7 years ago. I feel its missing features and I don't like the connector or the fact that is very bulky, ence the idea of going rusEFI.
I would go for a Life Racing ecu but he can't afford, also I believe rusEFI will do the job just fine!

The car is going to have ITBs so I was hoping to have the idle control by ignition/fuel and neither the megasquirt or speeduino (my other choice) would do it. Let me know what you think about it.

I hope I can contribute somehow to this community.

Thanks!

rusEfi has idle control by ignition. rusEfi has too many boards, too little documentation and not many features :( unfortunately with a tiny community you would have to find most answers in the code base.

That's why I decided to go for rusEFI! Also from what I can see in TunerStudio you keep it simple but configurable (from the features). Which other features would you like to add?
Also having an STM is something else compared with the ATMEGA.

I won't have much time to help you improving the documentation and I don't have any real insight on your project for now. I'm in the process of installing an engine dyno, maybe I can do some tests with the microrusEFI there when I'm finished!
