Direct injection v8

Post by Lrseries3 »

Hello everyone this is my first post 🙂
I have an engine which I would like to run. It is from a 2010 jaguar xfr.
5.0l v8 supercharged
direct fuel injection
dual cam per head with variable cam timing
has a denso ECU and Bosch injectors.
I have the factory car ECU but I don't know if it's enough to make it work. Are you able to modify my current ECU? or else supply a new one to run it? Thank you.

That's an awesome project!

rusEfi is not ready to run your engine. We've made it to the point of clicking single injectors, but no direct injection engine is close to running. We also don't yet support multi vvt, so that wouldn't work either.

Are there older versions of this engine with port injection, from which you could swap on an intake?

I would highly suggest trying to get the factory ECU to behave for now, and try rusEfi later once our GDI support is more mature.

Matt is the voice of wisdom.

I am sure there are off-the-shelf options for you, Motec probably? Not sure if $2K or $6K.

Multi-vvt is easy with good motivation.

Complete GDI in 12 months is probably 60% at this point? We do make slow progress - see https://rusefi.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1337 and https://rusefi.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1631

I am too far from Malta, if you would have been close to New York I would have borrowed this engine for tests :) I only have an old v12 myself.

HPFP setup is different from BMW N73 - two pumps are both on the same aux shaft driven by crank, instead of two pumps driven by two cam shafts.

That looks exactly like the pump that was on my 2013 Focus. I think it's called a Bosch HDP 5.
