Wasn't the pin out shifted by like 1 pin? I recall that was a common concern. If you try it I would say verify the pin out is actually the same. There may be like 1 pin that is not nice. Or that might have been a different chip, I don't fully recall.

Re: TLE8888 Ground path.
Why would AutoDesk know anything about electrical? Do they offer any electrical PCB design software? I know about the fairly recent routing options for Inventor. AutoDesk has been primarily Architecture and mechanical. How do these contradict? #2 – Never slice up your ground layer #3 – Always provid...

Re: TLE8888 Ground path.
I recall the calculated lift of the GND plane for like a 10A current was around 0.001V. That amount of lift of the GND pin is negligible from the ADC stand point. It would be interesting to measure the lift and check it against the real world. That book seems quite old, it was written long before we...

It would be great if you document the process. Once you get it running, it would be great if you could make a video, or a list of key steps and key commands, with key things along the way. Like Pi4 with Linux distro xyz, then cmd make, make install, etc.

Re: TLE8888 Ground path.
Please define advanced ground routing. I think you are saying adding barriers in your ground plane to create barriers for analog and digital. Or power and signal, etc. Per the Maxim article noted below, it is highly recommended to avoid ground plan barriers. It is very rare that you need to split th...

We have the outputs, and if it's hardwired, then we can not change it easily. If it's a problem for some unexpected reason, we can change it in software.
Why the concern about driving it with an extra output?

Re: TLE8888 Ground path.
the Achilles' heel of the FQD12N20LTM is the 200V of breakdown voltage, we don't now if 200V peak at the primary could be sufficient for a good spark, we are using a cb600f engine and original ignition coil. I do a lazy ballpark approximation like this. 0.001 inch gap ~= 1,000V, so 0.035 gap is apr...

Re: TLE8888 Ground path.
I think that MAXFem could be used to generate the heat generated profile, then perhaps it could also be used to show how the heat moves around on the PCB. Perhaps CAELinux could do it. Both potential solutions are to big for me to take on these days. But perhaps you have some more time than I have. ...

I suspect that Matt was looking to get some external validation on the existing batch of boards. I suspect that waiting a week or something like that would either validate that the design is good and solid, or it might find some kind of issue that can be resolved on the next batch. I believe the exi...

Sounds like quite a project. I fear it's not as easy as you might think. You likely have lots of wiring trouble shooting ahead of you. If you replace the harness, can you get it running on an OEM ECU first? That would resolve many concerns and make sure you have things working properly. Once it's wo...

Great.
So as a recap, the real world CAM VR is wired to MRE CRANK input. Then real world Crank VR is wired to MAX992# board. Then this board is wired to MRE CAM. Then you do happy dance, and unleash the beast contained inside your metal cage.

Those boards use a MAX992# chip. The MAX chip has several "modes" in which it can be configured. Those boards are designed with a mode that includes a self tuning feature. Basically if you don't get a pulse in 85mS, it jacks an internal gain way up and causes noise issues. If it gets a pul...

About VR to hall, we have this board,

This might also be an option.

At cranking RPM's what is the length of time between the CAM pulses? Is that length of time above 85mS?

Re: Old Russian motorcycle fuel injection
Keep in mind the primary side of the coil will get to around 400V to 600V when you spark. You need insulation that can sustain this under your operating environment. AKA foggy day or cold morning with small amounts of condensation, it needs to not arc over.

Some history, -- Bosch made WO2 sensors and chips to interface there proprietary magic with an MCU. -- I think Waltech was the first to make a real open source WO2 circuit. It uses op-amps, and mostly discrete components, and mimics what the Bosch chip does. Waltech's stuff is not OEM and not AEQ ce...
